- Trace one of the characters throughout the novel as he pertains to this quotation:
“The regressive qualities of man.” Use two scholarly opinions. Be sure to quote the source and include a works cited page (2 sources needed).
- In Lord of the Flies, we learn that a few of the boys fought for leadership. Do you feel the right boy led the boys? Trace the character that you believe is the ideal leader. Compare him to a leader in history. Use historical references (at least 2) to support your claims.
- Trace the development of one of the important symbols in the novel. Some examples are: the mask, the conch, the island, and the fire. Discuss Golding’s use of imagery and other figurative language to detail this element. Find 2 literary references to back up your statement regarding Golding’s meaning in the incorporation of the message/messages.
- Discuss Golding’s classic as an allegory. Research other critics or scholars that agree of disagree with your opinion and integrate their opinions into your essay.
